[AquaticLife] eheim 2217

Hi Myron,
I can not speak on the condition of the Eheim filter but I did want to address the loss of power from your two Fluval filters. I have a few- well, maybe 6 of these different ones. Over the years I have come to have to deal with the 303 and 304 or 404 […]

Guppy tragedy…

Hi Sam,
There is no “rule”, whether it’s 1″ per gallon or 2 gallons per fish that works… except for slim-bodied fish that stay under 3″ as full grown adults. For example, a 10″ Oscar certainly can’t be kept in 2 gallons of water, nor will 10 gallons of water be sufficient…. more like […]

Guppy tragedy…

Heather, I think it is an overcrowding issue- I should talk as my 55 has a pile of platys and my pond is overstocked but I didn’t do it. the fish did. Maybe a 20 Gal tank would make things easier- I always had trouble with 10 gal as they emptied too fast […]

Guppy tragedy…

A 10G tank should probably not have more than 4-5 guppies… maybe 3-4 males with the juvi pleco. Guppies grow to around 2.5″ It would be best if you get baby/juvi clown or bristle nosed plecos (or one of the other dwarf varieties but those two are usually cheapest) which you will still […]

Sand

filters arent on yet, til it settles. I used dried white fine sand for paving. I did experiment on my 10 gal..and it works. I did some netting on top, when some sand articiles or foam was floating, that helps too.

Sand

Try to turn down your filter flow until it settles. At some point you may want to use a quick filter or micron pad to remove anything that still lingers… With the lower flow rate it should help to let it settle.
If it becomes a constant problem, add a little larger grained […]
