OK, here are the results of my water testing:
Tap water from city source tested immediately, from a line that has never been softened: pH 7.4
Tap water, not softened, after 24 hour wait: pH 7.4
Reverse-osmosis water (R.O. unit is very small. I only can use it to top off losses between changes): pH 6.6

Absolutely nothing. When the water temp goes up, it goes away. The one who had it worst had it on both the dorsal fin and the bottom of his tail, and I believe a small light patch on his body too. It’s taken probably a month and it is all gone […]
