Sand

filters arent on yet, til it settles. I used dried white fine sand for paving. I did experiment on my 10 gal..and it works. I did some netting on top, when some sand articiles or foam was floating, that helps too.

Sand

Try to turn down your filter flow until it settles. At some point you may want to use a quick filter or micron pad to remove anything that still lingers… With the lower flow rate it should help to let it settle.
If it becomes a constant problem, add a little larger grained […]

[AquaticLife] Someone who knows about danios….

For ZD’s, it’s better to have at least two females for every male as the males will chase the female during mating season.. sometimes nipping her tail fin so she can’t get away. It could be the beginning of this phase. Did you just do a PWC? Normally, a change in water parameters […]

Breaking Down the Tank-Need Advise

Oh, I thought a power head was different than a power filter.
So then why wouldn’t you remove the UGF entirely?

[AquaticLife] Breaking Down the Tank-Need Advise

You can clean the very dirty gravel with fresh water, just treat with dechlorinator first.

[AquaticLife] Breaking Down the Tank-Need Advise

I’m sure that the water will turn BLACK, not just brownish, when I pull the polyster out. And the gravel will probably be impossible to clean with the […]

Breaking Down the Tank-Need Advise

I’m still keeping that message He wrote: “With the layer of glass wool between the gravel and the UGF (UnderGravel Filter), the health of your filter becomes problematic. Eventually, that layer will become clogged, and there is no good way to […]

Something *ate* my filter media?!?

I just wanted to post an update on this…
I got the supplies (they took quite a bit longer than I thought with the web order) and got right to cutting the poly-pad. It is *very* nice, thick material, especially compared to the biobag I was using! I was able to make a continuous […]

What’s happening?

Hi, Getting a 50 gallon tank is a good idea. 10 gallon tanks are only beginner tanks because of the cost. A 50 gallon tank will be much easier to maintain than a 10 gallon tank is. That may sound funny.. Its very true. Your snails are a good problem. They cling to the tank […]
