Ok, I’ll bite on this one. I would have to say it makes it dirtier.
The UV light will clear up the water itself but not remove contaminants like a plant would and Algae being a plant,massive amounts of tinny plants in your water should remove more contaminants and oxygenate the water than a filter alone.
