[AquaticLife] Broken fish tank

Welcome to the group.
“Chipped on the side”… does that mean one of the corners or in the middle of one of the panes of glass? Is this a glass tank where the corners are sealed with silicone on the inside of the tank or an acrylic tank or other? Is the damage up near […]

[AquaticLife] I really messed up this time!

See my previous post to Bill. A tank and the stand are designed to sit level. Considering the weight of a tank, if it’s leaning too much, it starts to create new pressure or stress points which could cause either the tank or the stand to fail. Water weighs 8 pounds per […]

[AquaticLife] Driftwood Cleaning & Curing…. Now, why didn’t I think of this???

I don’t know about one rock chip and goodbye motor. I’ve seen some people put some nasty dishes in their dishwashers that probably had bones, etc…. no rocks though. I think the screen on the bottom keeps anything out that’s big enough to harm the motor. I’ve also seen dishes break and […]

[AquaticLife] betta tank heater

LOL@”the incredible mr.”… darn.. I think I just showed my age.
The little flat heaters for small tanks do NOT have thermostats. From what I’ve read on them in the past, they’ll heat up the water up to 4F over the ambient temp in a certain sized tank… I forget the actual size. But […]

[UniQuaria] glofish!???

These are genetically modified Zebra danios that have a bit of fluorescence in them. One of the monsters created by mankind though they are not disabled like the Blood parrots or are not tortured by colouring them or injecting them with ink.

[UniQuaria] glofish!???

What are glofish? I’ve worked in aquarium retail and I’ve never even heard that as a trade name…   Glo-lite tetras? Painted glassfish?   Look online for some pictures and maybe you’ll find another name for them that we’ll recognize, or ask the dealer that you got them from. I’m curious to know what […]

Unless you are teetering on the edge of having enough oxygen in the tank to support the fish, which, from the video’s I saw you are not, there is nothing to worry about. Yes, live plants will take in O2 at night and release CO2 in turn, it is not normally enough to upset the […]

thank you

Hi Romel Dy, Jose Lee,
Thank you for the comprehensive comments, suggestions and sound advice. Looks like we really have to part with some of the kois, maybe in the future when we have a bigger place then we can plan for a bigger pond.
I am attaching here some pictures I took today, over looking […]

I skipped over DebR’s question earlier this morning (what the heck am I doing getting up at 4 AM when I can sleep late?). Algae is a primitive plant, probably the most primitive we are likely to see up close and personal. It is often the first plant to grow in aquaria, even if we […]
