Snail snafu

Yes Lenny that is what it looks like. It mostly happens to the larger snails. It is probably like mentioned, the bigger foot making it have more of a suction and the snails being sucked in. I have had to pull the snail (shredded) out of the intake. Not nice believe me. […]

Snail snafu

Hmmm… is this what the intake looks like on yours? http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pPETS-4723208t400.jpg
With that kind of strainer, which is very similar to the strainers on most other filter systems, I don’t see how it’s happening. I just did a Google search and do not see where it’s very common either.

Tuesday Check in (Day 20 reduced salt; 36 total)
- Noon: pH: 7.4; Ammonia: between 0 and .25ppm (up, sigh); Nitrite: ..25ppm; Nitrate: almost 20ppm - I hate removing good bacteria with frequent PWCs, but it looks like another week or two before I’ll have the 2nd tank […]

fish food question

Dan, Haven’t seen any replies to this, although I could have missed them. With the prepared foods such as what you are using, which would include flakes, wafers, pellets and probably freeze-dried foods as well, you should first buy them from a source that has a good turn-over of […]

[AquaticLife] ICH

No. It’s a one time dose. Salt does not evaporate or wear out… well I guess over a really long period it might be utilized as a nutrient but it would take a long time… HOWEVER… when doing your frequent PWC’s (partial water change), that will be needed for goldfish in a 10G […]

[AquaticLife] Water base line after 36 hours retested / Lenny

Ooops.. didn’t look at your specific numbers.. only that you asked if the Prime would make the pH go up. The tap water likely went up for the reason I previously stated about the CO2 outgasing.
As far as your tank’s pH going down… that is normal. ALL tank’s pH will go down as […]
