I would have no problems selling the young angel’s (or any young fish I happen to breed if he wants them) to the LFS. I think there would be a better market in gourami’s or pleco’s (especially the dwarf pleco’s as they only order the sailfin pleco’s) though, as neither arrive here […]

Yep! As your Googling successfully turned up (and as Lenny adds to), ACA does indeed stand for American Cichlid Association and with it, BOT abbreviates Board of Trustees. I regret any confusion in these references; I had just assumed (wrongly) that most hobbyists might have known of their existence […]

Ray,
He is one and the same person. He used to do quite a bit of speaking at conventions and such for fish folk, but I do not know if he still does. I have not heard of him being on the east Coast in quite some time.

While familiarizing the group with what Dr. Hovanec has accomplished for the hobby, I believe he is the same Tim Hovanec who served on the ACA’s BOT in the early 1990’s (1992 & 1993) and perhaps later — I don’t quite remember. In any event, a pleasure to have him as […]

I am not familiar with the Filter system you mention, but, beside the iron it pulls out, it may be reducing the amount of calcium in the water. This, plus an abundance of CO2 in the water may account for the 6.8 pH at the start, and the higher pH as the water outgases the […]

The only reason I am hesitant to breed anything more than simple guppies is because my LFS (well the owner rather) is rather… umm… profit orientated only, which means for me to sell any of my babies to him I would have to basically beat his wholesalers prices. Not to mention I […]

Ray,
You should check with your local library or Senior Center… not implying you’re a senior but you did mention you’ve been keeping fish for 60 years.. lol… anyhow, many libraries and other non-profits offer free basic computer classes and it’s a good place to learn all the basics… especially if you’re not even familiar with […]

Thanks for all the info Ray, I figured I didn’t have a good environment for breeding angel’s, but was actually surprised that they started to breed as I didn’t think I had a male/female. My silver/black striped angel is actually my favorite (she’s the female) I think she’s much more colorful […]

Amber, While I regretfully have been having computer problems (lock- ups) lately, resulting in my being too busy to do any posting/replying these last few days from my time being backed up through wasted efforts along these lines, please be aware that your present set up is not condusive to raising […]

I keep getting page load errors But the name sounds familiar. I have drifted away from the magic part and more into the balloon art stuff in the last few years. I have been doing balloon art for 30 years, but only seriously the last 3-4. By the way, I did a […]
