Angelfish laying eggs

I would have no problems selling the young angel’s (or any young fish I happen to breed if he wants them) to the LFS. I think there would be a better market in gourami’s or pleco’s (especially the dwarf pleco’s as they only order the sailfin pleco’s) though, as neither arrive here […]

Snail snafu

Yes Lenny that is what it looks like. It mostly happens to the larger snails. It is probably like mentioned, the bigger foot making it have more of a suction and the snails being sucked in. I have had to pull the snail (shredded) out of the intake. Not nice believe me. […]

This is the perfect time to use cedar shakes to level the tank. If need be, the shake could go under the legs all the way to the back, then you can either break them , cut them with an X-acto knife (or score them prior to breaking), or use a coping saw to cut […]

Snail snafu

Hmmm… is this what the intake looks like on yours? http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pPETS-4723208t400.jpg
With that kind of strainer, which is very similar to the strainers on most other filter systems, I don’t see how it’s happening. I just did a Google search and do not see where it’s very common either.

The method that you level would depend on the stand. If it has legs and you do not need much raise I would think you could place a piece of wood directly under the leg, or you could get something at the hardware store that you could raise and lower via a nut and […]

[AquaticLife] I really messed up this time!

See my previous post to Bill. A tank and the stand are designed to sit level. Considering the weight of a tank, if it’s leaning too much, it starts to create new pressure or stress points which could cause either the tank or the stand to fail. Water weighs 8 pounds per […]

So, do you shim up the tank stand by adding pieces of wood under the legs,or what? Thanks, Jim In a message dated 1/7/2009 10:13:47 A.M. Central Standard Time, uneekfish@gmail.com writes:

Well, I am new here and to fish keeping, but not knew to making mistakes!
I would drain tank water into 5 gallon buckets and rehome the fish there. HOB fiter or whatever you have, make it work in the bucket.
Level the stand so the tank is level. NEVER try and shim up the tank […]
