[AquaticLife] Heavy Metals

Thanks Lenny.  I am mainly concerned if the sodium thiosulfate will accumulate without having chlorine/chloramine to react with.  I’ve not been able to find anything on the web about this.  It is usually stated to use a dechlorinator if you are using tap water to do PWC, etc.  This is to be used as a precautionary measure against […]

[AquaticLife] Heavy Metals

I would think it’s fine to use. Basic dechlor’s that treat chlorine/chloramine and heavy metals have been used for a long time with no apparent adverse side effects. If you haven’t seen me post this before, either API’s Tap Water Conditioner or Top Fin’s Tap Water Dechlorinator are two of the most […]

Newbie with a fungus problem?

In going back over the threads of this subject, I can’t find any reference to any internal disorders, although I do remember some members being suggested to feed peas to their fish to help them with digestive disorders, although I don’t recall seeing that here. There was also some talk […]

Live OR Frozen Artemia for Coral

Hello everyone, I have recently acquired some stony corals, Galaxea fascicularis. I’ve heard that we should feed them with Artemia to keep them healthy. Should I use frozen ones or culture live ones? Which is better for the corals? Do live ones have more nutritional value? Pls advise. Thank you!

[AquaticLife] An article about PWC

While many people do 50% or larger PWC’s, doing more than 25% PWC’s at a time can result in a change in water parameters too much, too fast which can result in pH shock, temperature shock, osmoregulatory issues, stress issues, etc.
That article was dealing with a SW tank and did not give any actual test […]

[Worldwide Koi Club] Black Koi

The black Koi may be fairly common for those that breed them.  However in all the wholesale listings I have only once seen black koi listed.  In that case it was black butterfly koi.    Yes there is old Japaneese saying that a black Koiu will give good luck to your pond and that […]

[Ponds-Koi] Koi fin

I thought someone answered it. Without seeing it or good photos, best guess would be the beginning stage of fin rot due to bacterial issues. Is it only one fish?
You could do the salt dip or betadine treatment.
From… http://www.vet.uga.edu/vpp/Undergrad/Siegel/
Treatment
Treatment of bacterial skin disease depends upon the species of bacteria involved and the […]
