[AquaticLife] HELP!! My husband won’t stop buying fish!

Thanks Lenny, I will definitely let you know how long he makes it. As far as I can tell he’s healthy, just mad about his tank size, he thumps the other fish with his tail and either eats them or leaves them to die if he doesn’t like them, bad fishy […]

[AquaticLife] HELP!! My husband won’t stop buying fish!

Looks like she’s cleaning the tanks from what she stated, but not sure how often.. My husband had to put his foot down and tell me no more fish, so I can understand where you’re coming from (only in reversed roles). Just explain that you’re tired of doing all the work to […]

[AquaticLife] HELP!! My husband won’t stop buying fish!

A question on pictus catfish. I’m going to rescue my parent’s pictus catfish out of their (yes I know it’s awful) 20 gallon tank. Good news is that he has only a few tank mates, but the really bad part of it is that he has been in that tank for easily […]

HELP!! My husband won’t stop buying fish!

I can not get my husband to stop buying fish. If he sees a new kind at Wal-mart or the lfs he buys it. Right now we have a 10 gal with 2 blue gouramis, 2 black skirt tetras, 2 black phantom tetras, 2 pictus cats, 2 australian rainbows, 2 hatchet fish, […]

[AquaticLife] Driftwood Cleaning & Curing…. Now, why didn’t I think of this???

I always do my rocks in the dishwasher on sanitize, no soap. I got yelled at by a guy on a forum once who said one rock chip and goodbye dishwater motor! So at your own risk.
However, the dishwasher does not remove algae.so scrubbing is still required.

[AquaticLife] Driftwood Cleaning & Curing…. Now, why didn’t I think of this???

I would have to say it probably depends on your dishwasher. My dishwasher has a little spot on the door where I put in the liquid spot remover, it just unscrews and there’s a hole where the screw was that you pour the spot remover into.

Driftwood Cleaning & Curing…. Now, why didn’t I think of this???

I was just reading my most recent edition of TFH (Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine), the February 2009 edition (why do magazines come out one to two months early anyhow?) and in the Q & A section, someone asked about the difference between store bought driftwood and the kind we might find in the wild. […]

Monday Update (Day 19 of reduced salt; 35 total)
Saturday: - 5G PWC started at 1:30pm, had a plumbing emergency and couldn’t replace water until 5pm (5tsp salt, .5ml Prime, SafeStart) - Got tired of waiting for tank to cycle and figured the biomax in the filter could not have done […]

Tube clamps…..

I do run a bottle brush through my Rena Filstar tubes every couple of years, although it’s probably not necessary, but I don’t think there’s a reason to disinfect them unless you are completely breaking down a tank to disinfect the entire system from some kind of pathogen. The algae in the tubes will […]
