Saturday night quiz thingee
How much of that price is taxes? I thought the value of the Euro was making oil/gas cheaper over in Europe. Of course, I heard you guys were paying over $5.00 a gallon a few years ago when we were still paying a dollar-something.
Most States over here in the USA have total taxes of around 65 cents a gallon. Some States had flat taxes per gallon and others had percentages so those States with percentage tax rates have had much higher increase in their tax per gallon. Those citizens should be hanging their politicians from the nearest tree right now.
Of course, I’d be more than happy to lynch up a few down here in New Orleans too! We have them Giant Oak trees with 10 big branches so we could make efficient use of our trees so any of you Midwest or desert States without a lot of trees… just ship your politicians down here and we’ll gladly add them to the branches next to ours.
The shame of things is that when gas was just $1.50 a gallon a couple of years ago, we were still paying over 60 cents a gallon in taxes… that’s a 66% tax rate (60 cents tax, 90 cents gas) but so many people are ignorant about how much they actually pay in taxes so they didn’t even realize how bad they were getting shafted by their politicians. Now that prices are over $3.00 a gallon, the tax rate is still around 20-30% which is still a ridiculous rate.
OK.. my tax rant is over… at least for the next hour or two. Thank God I cheat enough on my taxes so I don’t feel it as bad as some or I might be going Postal. LOL
