Really struggling with temperature control
Hi everyone, I have an extra 10g tank that I took back from a neighbor. It’s fully cycled and now houses some guppies.
I set this tank up in my basement because I really don’t have a good spot for it on the main floor. It’s cool in the basement. What I’m finding is that when I check it in the morning, the temp in the tank is about 72, then by evening it is 80-82! It’s like it can’t keep up at night. I replaced the heater, thinking maybe the thermostat was defective, but now I think it’s just because of where I have the tank.
Do I need a higher wattage heater? A different kind? Those poor guppies have been through several rapid 6-10 degree swings and I know that’s really horrible! Bren
