Really struggling with temperature control
Ah ha! Not having degree setting is your issue. What you have is a heater that raises the temperature a certain number of degrees above the ambient room temperature, you set this with the unmarked dial - it doesn’t have a thermostate per se so it can’t accurately regulate temperature as properly. When the ambient temperature of the room changes, the tank water will change as well.
Definitely look into getting a heater that has a temp setting, I think this will solve your problem. The correct size Aqueon with temp setting I mentioned (or similar heater) should be less than $25. Good luck!
