Re- [Ponds-Koi] WATER?!? YEH, RIGHT!
I have no problem agreeing that the test strips are easier to use. The problem is that they cannot be trusted to give you an accurate result. For example, if the life expectancy of a bottle of strips is 30 days from opening (per at least one of the manufacturers of the strips), and most people do not use a bottle in a year - or two - or three - hmmmmmmm…..
Karl talked about his newbie trainees - who hopefully used up a batch of strips quickly enough so that they did not have the age factor as part of the problem. But home hobbyists are a very different story. Most let them sit until there is a problem, and then drag the old bottle off of the shelf and NEED to have a CORRECT result.
The strips are bad enough when fresh - and old is very hazardous to the fishie’s health.
