Re Brown slime
They do they are called chillers a lot of reef keepers use them. But depending on the fish they could go from the low 60’s tothe mid 80’s gradually with no problems. Also could the brown on your fish be a result of the algae eaters eating off the sides of the affected fish. The brown on the edges of your fake plants could be brown diatoms. The extra bubbles now in the tank could be from a balanced tank. Planted tanks will sometimes have that. It depends on the plants but usually a balanced aquarium in a planted tank will do that.
