Question, problem with my pond.
Ahhhh… Number 3. may be your problem. What did you do when you “cleaned” the filter?
If you’ve already read my previous reply, hopefully you’ve already swapped some of the filter media from one of your other ponds into the filter system on this troubled pond.
More than likely, you over-cleaned your filter system which killed off the good nitrifying bacteria. By moving some “cycled” filter media into the cleaned system, it should be enough nitrifying bacteria to handle a small fish bioload and the bacteria can double their colony size every 24-48 hours so you should be OK within 24 hours.
What is the pH of the water? What is the water temp?
I forgot this in my previous post. If you have a high pH, then ammonia becomes much more toxic. See this page for charts on ammonia toxicity based on ammonia level, pH and water temp. http://dataguru.org/misc/aquarium/AmmoniaTox.html
