question on feeding

It’s possible, certainly not an ideal situation or an easy task at times though. I had a 1g guppy ‘bowl’ for several years with a small UGF on it. I would still do weekly changes and as needed, I’d tip all the gravel out in a bucket of tank water and rinse, I never had problems with it, but I have always been a light feeder and the fish load was very small. Today I have a 2.5g tank that has been running for about 5 years on a Azoo Palm filter, basically a nano-sized HOB filter. I tossed the original media and replaced it with a sponge block cut in half so that I can service half at a time. It’s a very healthy tank, had a betta in it for a couple years, today it’s just plants and snails. If the load is small enough for the filter to handle, there should not be any cycling problems. I would not suggest putting a goldfish or larger fish than guppies or a betta in such a tank though.
Here’s some fishless pico tanks, I love these things! http://www.aquahobby.com/tanks/e_tank0603.php
