Question about pump for 4,000 gal pond

Dennis, I would suggest you take a look at the Sequence 750 series of pumps for your pond/filter setup. The 750 series are super energy efficient and still put out a pretty heft volume of water. There are two pump models in that series (unless they’ve added more. You’ll could probably buy two of the 750’s for about the same price as most of the other out-of-pond pumps you’ll run across. And the savings you’ll realize on your electricity bill (compared to virtually all in-pond and most of the other out-of-pond pumps) will pay for the pump within a year or two.
I’m a firm believer in using two smaller volume pumps in place of a single larger volume one. Using two pumps gives you a lot more flexibility with how you plumb you pond and the filter systems, and can save you a lot of additional money on your electrical bills. One very easy way to save big time on your electrical bill with two pumps is to set one of the up on a timer so it shuts off every evening, stays off during the dark hours, and turns back on when you want it to. By doing that, you’re using only half the energy during those night time hours.
WHOOPS!!! I just checked the pricing of the Sequence 750 series pumps and their price has doubled since the last time I bought one. They’re not selling the pumps by themselves any more, so the price has gone up substantially. I’ve pasted the listing from the AZ Pond site below to show you what all is included in the kits. One good thing when buying from these people is their shipping is FREE on many items (including the 750 pump kits). I guess when you consider everything that’s included in the kits, and the free shipping, the price isn’t that bad.

If you want someting a bit cheaper, Instead of the Sequence pump, take a look at the Little Giant OPWG-46 instead. At the AZ Ponds site I pasted a link to, they have a very large selection of pupms for you to check out. The Little Giant is a little less than $190.
