Prepping Tank for Betta
The whisper filter would be fine for your betta. Though they may need to get used to the water flow. The only time I would be really concerned about a Hang on the back filter is if and when I breed bubble nesters as the disturbance usually breaks down the nest. In my mouth breeding betta tanks I have whisper internal filters going all of the time. I have raised and bred halfmoon, veil and species bettas. If your house is comfortable for you it should be fine for your betta. Though it would be better to have a submersible heater that has calibrated settings on the heater.
