[Ponds-Koi] homemade plant protector from hula hoop
funny you should ask I just made 2 of them
I bought the fine netting (green)they sell at the fabric store. fold it up under the hoop ( so the fabric sits 18″ or so down). I then folded the edges over the top of the hoop, stitched it closed on my sewing machine, then stitched up the sides.
2 things I learned while doing this.
make sure ALL openings are sewn shut ( you will have to hand stitch the place where the edges meet from the sides to the hoop) because the 1st one I didn’t a fish actually wiggled its way in through that edge around the hoop!!!!
also, make sure the fabric hangs in a “U” shape ( cut off extra) I had some fish decide to climb in over the side & fight at getting out, since they were caught in the “V” sides I left in it.
so far works fine, except for the occasional fish really determined to hop over the edge. : )
