[Ponds-Koi] Help please! - Fish eating poisoned fireants filing into wate…
Thanks Sue and Lenny, I did do about a 10% water change and added more clay - couldn’t slap him upside the head though, Lenny (but it was my first thought too)- he’s elderly and had no idea they would stream into the pond. He felt bad and said he was careful not to spray near the water, so hopefully not too much spray in the water other than what was on the ants. I read on some kind of forum that Google brought up that if the fish ate the fireants, the ants would bite them inside??? Those bites hurt - I was bit several times while I was doing the water change in the dark and the live ones that weren’t eaten were crawling out the sides of the pond - most bites have blistered up this morning. I either need to prepare myself for some injured/dead fish or hope for the best. I have to be gone most of the day to take family to the airport. Dang thing is - there is still a pile of fireants on the waterfall ledge circling around in a pile climbing over each other to stay on top - I’m going out, with long gloves on, to try to scoop them out now. Thanks for responding. Has anyone else experienced fireants in the pond water? Linda
