[Ponds-Koi] Fireants at pondside
Lenny, the description of the “budding effect” on your second link explains why so many more mounds are popping up so quickly. Thanks for that link!!!! Yes, I can do the shop vac thing. I was thinking too that I could hotwire an area around the pond to keep the dogs out and use Amdro a safe distance from the water, but the organic stuff in the first link is worth trying first. Eventually the goal is to kill those queens that keep making more mounds. I also don’t want to drive them under the pond liner - that could really make a mess of my pond, which is really doing well now. I was looking for pond vacs when I decided to try my mean green cleaning machine carpet cleaner - had to empty often, but it’s not heavy, empties easy, and works like a charm!! Sucks up less water and more “stuff” 
And the smaller opening sucks up silt and dead algae but not my plants. Nice clean pond, yeah! Linda
