Pond Pump died. Suggestions for new one?

I have been surfing the web and am getting very confused and could really use some advice. My pump died today after 3 1/2 years of great service. It was a Cyprio Hozelock model 3360 Cascade 1400. It hung in my pond and pumped water up to the back of my Tetra Pond2 biofilter, which sits ten feet up and 20 feet away in the top of my waterfall. I am circulating approx 1250 gal. through 3 small cascading ponds, all with aquatic plants, down an 18″ by 15’stream into my oval approx. 10′by12′, by 3 1/2′ deep koi pond. Unfortunately I do not have a bottom drain. The terrain would not allow for it. I do occasionally use a Pondmaster 40 watt ultraviolet steralizer in the 1″ line just before the biofilter. It works great and I love the blue rings! I have a few questions. Can some one please suggest an appropriate pump that can be submersed, and shouldn’t it filter out particles so it doesn’t damage my sterilizer? Should I look for the same thing, same size, I had? And does anyone use a pond vac that does not use a filter’s pumping station for suction? Do the garden hose versions really remove the pond dirt from the bottom? I do partial water changes frequently. My water is crystal clear. My 5 Koi and several comets seem happy, but I’d like to clean the bottom. Please help me. Colleen
