Other pond fish compatible with Koi?
OK…A couple of things about “my pond ideas” First, because I really LIKE my fish. (is it strange that a 55 year old is as enthused as a 14 year old??? I hope not!) I think Goldfish and Koi are beautiful creatures and very enjoyable to watch.
Since my cash flow is limited, I plan to build a “pond” in my basement FIRST. This will enable me to have a place to put my fish in colder months. AND if I run out of room in my Aquarium or the fish get too large, I have a place to put them. humidity issues may not be the problem that you might think! Around here Summers are hot and humid, and winters are cold and DRY! So humidity will be an asset in winter, but summer might be more of a problem. Have to do a little research. But I think that If I vent to the outdoors it may be less of a problem!
Outdoor pond. OK, I am going to do that too, but as I pointed out, cash flow! I want my winter fish place set up first. Outdoor later. Probably later this summer if I can get it working. (and depending on how my summer jobs work out. summer is my busiest season! Anyone near Iowa need a GREAT children’s entertainer? Balloons, Magic, FUN for all ages! call Papaballoon!)
At this point I have other outdoor projects tht will take priority over my fish pond. the deck, my big fat soft spot where the deck is supposed to go! And all that stuff! (I have ORDERS to built the deck!)
Anyway, I have alittle time. my largest Koi is only about 4 or 5 inches long so it shouldn’t get to a critical size THIS summer! By next spring however, it may be really important to have a lot more water in which to have them.
