Need to know how to use antibiotics

Maracyn 1 an 2 WILL kill off your bio filter. I am pretty sure that bifuran will also kill your bio filter, as it’s a broad spectrum antibacterial (Nitrofurazone and Furazolidone).
I’ve found such things should only be done in a small QT where you can easily change the volume of water. Learned that the hard way (over and over and over).
So, my strategy for treating fish with antibiotics has been to use a 2.5G or 5G tank. I pack it with wisteria and duckweed, put a bight light over it and start the treatment. Assuming a small number of fish in the QT, the plants to a good job of pulling out the ammonia.
