I have breed various species of fish selectively for color. However before I ever attempoted this I studied the genetics of the different color strains of that particular spoecies.
From what I’m seeing and hearing of the Sanke and Shjowa varieties I’m getting the impression that they are estremly closly related geneticly.
This is an assumption but my thoughts are that could be three molted pattern gene sets. RR = heavey red patterns Rr = Light Red patterns rr = No red Pattern
BB = heavey Black patterns Bb = Light Black patterns bb = No Black Pattern
WW = heavey White patterns Ww = Light White patterns ww = No White Pattern
Now a Showa could geneticly be BBRrWw While a Sanke would be BbRrWW
In order to prove or disprove this we would need to know the results of various selective breeding of Sanke to Showa, Sanka to Sanka, and Showa to Showa.
If anyone has done breeding of these combinations it would be great if you could send me your results. This would then prove my theory as either true opf false.
