My pump keeps plugging!
My large pump is in a 12×12 milk crate pre-filter w/ the filter material & lava rock. Last year I could go almost a full month before cleaning it. For some reason, this year it plugs up in less than a week. I cleaned it Saturday & it was totally plugged up this morning already! It is driving me loca. The filter material is some real dense stuff - I got it at a pond store. Should I try something a little less dense? Maybe I should put the pump in the deeper end. The pump shoots some water up out the top and the majority of the water gets pumped to an outside filter, then down the tube back into the water. No waterfall yet. Pond is about 12×12x2 w/ 25-30 goldies. Water is clearing up as the plants grow. No string algae or anything - it’s getting pretty clear. My biofilter outside the pond is for 3,000 gallons of water - my pond is smaller. Any ideas?
Thanks gang,
