Koi tail fin

I have a lovely white butterfly type Koi that is about 8+ inches. We did a pond cleaning a couple weeks ago and removed the fish while we cleaned. A few days later I noted a notch out of the top longer section (sorry, wish I knew the correct term) of the tail fin. The notch is about the size of the tip of my smallest finger (3/8″?) but the scary thing is the it has a thin pink or red edge around the edges of the notch. It has not grown or diminished in size.
The fish behaves normally, eats well, swims with the others all the time so is not giving any signs of stress yet. I am seeking advice of treatment, or not.
My pond is 1600 gallons and our air temps range from 40s at night to low 80s in the day in the AZ mountains where I live. Yesterday was a cooler day that followed a cool rainy day on Tues. Pond temp was 60º in the early afternoon yesterday, but has reached 70+º on warmer days.
I searched the internet for any photos or discussion of this problem and didn’t find anything that fits the description. I talked to the fish person at PetSmart and they suggested removing the fish, bathing the spot with iodine and returning it to the pond.
Help, please,
Judith in AZ
