I am once again thoroughly enjoying ponding/ koi keeping.

I will go along with your comments here. Feeding less than once per day is something that I only do when I see my water temp has dropped under 50 degrees or is over 90 degrees.
Ususly with my water temp between 68 degrees and 75 degrees I will feed 3 or 4 times a day everything that they can eat in a 5 minute interval.
Now as far as filteration goes we can probably have a 10 way discussion on what is best and what does not work good. In my pond I’m running 1/2 of the volumn through the filteration system each hour. Besides this I have an additional pump that takes water from the deepest point in the pond and feeds my waterfall at roughly 3 times the pond volumn per hour.
With the set up the pond allows there to be high flow areas, as well as near stagment areas of water movement.
As an added note My present pond is a partial experiment with some ideas I had. This is the fiorst pond I built without a surface skimmer feeding the filteration system. I’m completly filtering water from the bottom of the pond and then running it out through a foaming bubbler. So far I’m seeing advantages as well as disadvantages from this set up.
