fuzzy driftwood

I added a large piece of driftwood to my 75 gallon and within a week I had some nasty looking mold/fungus growing on it. It was attached yet long enough to whisper with the water flow. It was grey black in color and the pleco’s were not interested. After a week I did a 1/3 water change and withing a few days it was all gone. I don’t add CO2 but I suspect a water change will take care of this.
