[AquaticLife] Brown algae

If it’s actually “brown algae”, it’s probably diatoms which isn’t actually an algae. The diatoms you are likely seeing live off of silicates that are more common at higher levels in newly set up tanks. The silicates leach from the silicone on new tanks but also from some substrates and decorations.
How long has your tank been set up?
If the “brown algae” is more like a dust and is easily wiped off, then it’s more likely to be diatoms. Algae eating fish will not readily eat diatoms although they may scrape it off in their quest for normal algae.
Here’s an article all about “Brown Algae” aka Diatoms.
