Is this the fish you have? If so, it is a “cull” of Microgeophagus or Papiliochromis altispinosa otherwise known as a “Bolivian Ram”. It is impossible to cross an angelfish with an altispinosa. It is incorrectly identified in this picture as a regular ram, Microgeophagus ramerezi. Here is a picture of a Microgeophagus […]

Repost…

So an update on the mysterious fish, I went to another fish store and asked them what a Ram Angelfish was and I was told it was a cross- breed of a Ram Cichlid and an Angelfish. Wierd huh? Anyways, I bought a small Angelfish for a friend and as soon as I […]

[Worldwide Koi Club] Ammonia problem

If you have sixty fish in your 2000 gallon pond, the fish load is way too high. I would suggest you either increase the size of your pond, …. cut the fish load in half (at least by a third), or add a substantial amount of biological filtration to your system. Adding plants […]

Guppy tragedy…

[Ponds-Koi] SATURDAY NIGHT QUIZ #July 19,2008

Ok, I’ll bite on this one. I would have to say it makes it dirtier.
The UV light will clear up the water itself but not remove contaminants like a plant would and Algae being a plant, massive amounts of tinny plants in your water should remove more contaminants and oxygenate the water than a filter alone.
I […]
